Cardinal softballers end season in B-6 shutout

The South Sioux City Lady Cardinals had trouble keeping up with Omaha Gross in a 9-0 loss on Thursday in the opening round of the B-6 district at Omaha Skutt.

Gross Catholic got on the board in the first inning after Raelyn Carmichael singled, scoring one run. They broke the game open in the second with three runs and added two in the third and three in the fourth to end the game on the mercy rule.

Clara Meeker earned the win for Gross, throwing a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts and six walks. Lindsey Loos and Ximena Novoa Ramirez led the team with two bases on balls each, and Mila Grvey and Bailey Johnson also drew walks.

Paisyn Ross took the loss for SSC, allowing nine runs (six earned) on nine hits, striking out none and walking five.

SSC ends the season at 5-20.
