Genevieve was born on Nov. 11, 1937, in Hartington, the daughter of Marcus and Mary (Paltz) Becker. She graduated as valedictorian from St. Helena High School. On Aug. 26, 1957, Genevieve was united in marriage to Charles Schulte at St. Helena. To this union, three sons and three daughters were born: Michael, Mark, Mitchell, Michelle, Michaela, and Marla. They later moved to Emerson, where she stayed busy working and raising their family. In 1976, they purchased a bar in Emerson, and named it “C & G Bar.” She worked for many years there, where they made many friends and had famous fish fries that people from all around came to enjoy.
Charles passed away in June of 2021. She continued to live in her house until her passing, a house they took from shambles back to near original condition.
Genevieve was an avid reader, loved puzzles and other mind challenging games and trivia. She also loved all sports played by her favorite team, the Nebraska Cornhuskers. And watched religiously!
She was the best cook in northeast Nebraska! Her recipes are a dash of this and a dash of that; nothing will ever taste as good! She was the most loving person and treated all whom she met with respect and unconditional love!
Genevieve is survived by her sons, Michael (Kristi) Schulte of Omaha, Mark (Maureen) Schulte of Omaha, Mitchell Schulte of Emerson; daughters, Michelle (Gary) Waggoner of North Platte, Michaela (Gary) Libbos of Phoenix, Ariz., Marla Plueger of Sioux City, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rose Marie Paulsen of Emerson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; Son-in-law, Randy Plueger; grandson, Timothy Schulte; brothers, (infant) Leonard Becker, Donald Becker, Florence “Molly” Becker, Wilfred “Willie” Becker; sisters, Rita Vornhagen, Mercedes Hoebelheinrich and Charlotte “Lolly” Wiebelhaus.
