Roofing crews were busy at South Sioux City Middle School on Monday after this past weekend’s high winds caused some damage to the school’s roof above the auditorium.
School officials immediately called in help to fix the roof and are happy that the damage took place during the holiday break when nobody was at the building.
“We are grateful that this occurred during winter break, when no students or staff were in the building, and there were no injuries,” a news release said.
The damage is expected to be repaired before the resumption of classes on Wednesday, Jan. 7. Staff will be back prior to that for pre-semester meetings, and some of those meetings may be relocated.
Instructional spaces and daily school operations are expected to proceed as planned.
