Brackets for district and subdistrict volleyball were announced Thursday by the Nebraska School Activities Association.
District play in Class A will begin on Tuesday, with subdistrict play for area C-2 teams will start on Monday.
South Sioux City is the No. 4 seed in the A-7 district and will travel to top-seeded Elkhorn South for a Tuesday evening matchup. The winner of that match will face either No. 2 seed Columbus or No. 3 Papillion-LaVista on Wednesday, with that winner advancing to the state tournament.
In the C2-5 subdistrict at Humphrey, Ponca is the No. 4 seed and will face No. 5 Boyd County on Monday, with the winner facing top-seeded Humphrey/Lindsay on Tuesday. The other half of the bracket has No. 3 Summerland squaring off with No. 6 Ainsworth on Monday, with the winner facing No. 2 seed Homer in the semifinals. The finals for that subdistrict are set for Wednesday, Oct. 30.
Tri County Northeast will travel to Crofton for the C2-6 subdistrict and begins play Monday as the No. 3 seed against No. 6 Niobrara/Verdigre. The winner of that game will face No. 2 Elgin/Pope John on Tuesday. The other half of the bracket has No. 4 West Holt vs. No. 5 Lutheran High Northeast on Monday, with the winner facing top-seeded Crofton on Tuesday. The final for that subdistrict will also be played Wednesday evening.
Subdistrict winners and wild cards will advance to the district finals on Saturday, with winners heading to the state tournament in Lincoln Nov. 6-9.
