Two vehicles were involved in a collision at the intersection of Highway 110 and Medal of Honor Highway (Highway 20) Thursday afternoon.
According to the Dakota County Sheriff’s Department, a Jeep Liberty Renegade driven by Miguel Aldrete, 33, failed to yield the right of way to a semi tractor trailer while traveling northbound across the intersection, colliding with a Ford F-150 pickup driven by Paul Ireland, 69.
The report indicated that a semi tractor trailer was in the southbound turn lane of Highway 20 and Aldrete failed to yield the right of way to the semi, traveling northbound and striking Ireland’s westbound vehicle.
Ireland and his wife, Patricia, 62, were taken to a local hospital for emergency treatment. Aldrete was also taken to a local hospital with less serious injuries.
The report indicated that Aldrete did not have a valid driver’s license at the time of the accident. Charges are pending further investigation of the incident.
