SSC teams finish seventh at Shootout

WAYNE -- The South Sioux City boys and girls basketball teams both came away with seventh-place finishes Monday on the final day of the Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout.

In girls action, SSC built a 19-point halftime advantage and cruised to a 58-39 win over Winnebago.

Bailee Durant had the hot hand for the Lady Cards, scoring a game-high 22 points. Keyana Weaver and Paizley Aldrich both hit double digits with 10 points apiece.

Also scoring were Autumn Porter with seven, Yoselin Aldrich with four, Naomi Aldrich and Abby McCoy with two each and Bryleigh Robinette with one.

In boys action, the Cardinals used a 21-5 third-quarter explosion to erase a five-point halftime deficit and outlast Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, 57-52.

Prestin Blackhawk led three Cardinals in double figures with 19 points, followed by Jaden Painter with 13 and Paul Turner with 11.

Caden Painter had six points, Jagger Sims scored five, Jamison Houseman had two and Nabil Yusef added a free throw.
