A detached shed was engulfed in flames early Saturday morning, with South Sioux City firefighters quickly responding to the scene.
At approximately 7:10 a.m. Saturday, the SSC Fire Department was dispatched to a shed fire in the area of Seventh Street and Fourth Avenue. The first fire unit arrived within five minutes to find a detached shed fully involved, with multiple nearby structures threatened.
Fire crews were able to get water on the first within a minute of arrival and quickly took action to protect surrounding structures and prevent further spread of the fire. Occupants at a nearby home were safely evacuated as a precaution and allowed to return home once the fire was brought under control.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported in the fire and estimated damage including impact to nearby exposures is about $10,000.
