About 200 people came together Saturday evening for the fifth-annual Freedom Ball held at the Marriott Riverfront in South Sioux City.
The evening was highlighted by comedian and veteran Bobby Henline, whose inspirational story of coming back after being severely burned over half of his body after surviving a roadside bomb attack in Iraq that killed four of his fellow fighters.
A live auction and silent auction was held to raise funds for a new shelter and reflection area for Siouxland Freedom Park’s Freedom Rock. The new addition will honor 11 local heroes and complete the rock site, which already includes benches representing each of the military branches.
