A current Dakota County Commissioner has been arrested twice in the past three weeks, the second coming Tuesday soon after the Board of Commissioners meeting.

The South Sioux City Police Department received a call Tuesday afternoon that Rick Bousquet was driving a vehicle just days after his license has been revoked in relation to a Jan. 5 incident in which he was arrested for a variety of charges, including first-offense Driving Under the Influence.

A police officer made contact with Bousquet around 5 p.m. and arrested him, charging him with obstructing government operations, driving under revocation and driving without a valid operator’s license. He was booked into the Dakota County Jail and bond was set at $12,500. A court date has not yet been set.

On Sunday, Jan. 5, Bousquet was arrested by the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office and charged with multiple offense, including first-offense Driving Under the Influence, obstructing government operations, refusal to submit to a breath or chemical test, driving left of center and failure to use a turn signal.

Bond for that arrest was set at $12,500 and Bousquet is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, Feb. 5.

Tuesday’s arrest came just minutes after Bousquet’s first meeting of his fourth term on the county board. He had previously served on the City Council of South Sioux City before winning a seat on the Dakota County Board of Commissioners in last year’s general election.
