The South Sioux City baseball team’s bats had a hard time getting warmed up as they dropped three games last week.
Last Tuesday, the Cardinals were victims of a no-hitter as host Plattsmouth rolled to an 11-0 five-inning shutout.
Only two Cardinals reached base, one on an error and the other as a hit batsman. Kamden Munoz struck out three in four innings to take the pitching loss.
SSC dropped a pair of games at home, starting with Thursday’s 7-2 loss to Twin River. The visitors broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in three consecutive innings to come away with the win.
SSC had seven hits in the contest, two each from Jackson Jensen and Brock Anderson. Charlie Aitken, Munoz and Brady O’Dell also had hits, and Paxtyn Wagner drove in a run.
Three pitcher saw action in the game, with Jensen taking the loss. O’Dell got the start before being relieved by Jensen, with Anderson pitching the final two innings. The trio combined for 10 strikeouts.
Omaha Roncalli took advantage of some early fielding miscues by the Cardinals and came away with a 14-7 win in action Tuesday at Voss Field in Klasey Park.
Both teams had eight hits in the contest. Anderson and freshman Max Rogge both had two hits, while Rogge, Jensen, Anderson, Aitken, Munoz and Braden Barnett each had RBI’s.
Aitken got the start and took the loss on the hill for the 2-8 Cardinals. O’Dell and Munoz came on in relief.
SSC travels to Mount Michael Thursday and has the Seward Invitational on Saturday before returning home next Friday and Saturday for home games with Fort Calhoun and Omaha Skutt.
